Abstract:
Braille Touch is a revolutionary iPhone app for the blind community that lets you type using braille on your touchscreen. In this talk, I will tell four intertwined tales; first- the story of the invention of Braille; second – the human story behind the development of Braille Touch; third – the academic impact of Braille Touch and fourth – the entrepreneurial efforts towards a successful commercialization of Braille Touch and its ultimate goal of promoting permanent positive social impact in underrepresented communities.
To get most out of this talk – if you have an iPhone, please download Braille Touch from the App Store and teach yourself a bit of Braille: http://brailletouchapp.com
