By 2050, the global urban population will rise by 75 percent to 6.3 billion (that will be two thirds of the world population). The challenge of developing and maintaining attractive, inclusive and safe urban environments needs to be met on multiple fronts. Mobility, safety and information are key areas that are affected, especially through digital transformation.

At the Berlin Metropolitan Solutions trade fair, EIT Digital will present solutions that show how this challenge can be addressed. The digital transformation of the future cities can be leveraged through centralised, participative and collaborative interactions between city actors: government, city service providers.

This transformation enables the deployment of disruptive information, mobility and safety services in the cities: such as the EIT Digital supported carsharing scaleup Vulog and the EIT Digital Innovation Activity 3cixty.

  1. Vulog currently negotiates with more than 30 cities across Europe (many of them in Germany) to install local carsharing solutions. Next to its already successful 4 locations worldwide, Vulog plans to open up new offices in Europe and Asia.
  2. The EIT Digital Innovation Activity 3cixty is a platform that is run by the startup data specialist Data Moove and the world-class research centre EURECOM. They recently joined forces in order to improve the search and discovery of culture and tourism offers in smart cities
