NET FUTURES, a conference supported by the European Commission, is organised in the end of March with the ambition to bring together an interconnected community in order to maximize competitiveness of the European technology industry.

By bridging the gaps between companies, organizations and people in Research & Innovation, Business Development, Market Validation, Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Strategy as well as Policy Making, the belief is that innovations will more easily and effectively find their way to the market.

Günther Oettinger, Commissioner for Digital Economy & Society and Mário Campolargo, Director “Net Futures” – DG CONNECT at European Commission will open the conference. EIT ICT Labs partner /associated members iMinds, Ericsson and Telefónica are main sponsors of the event and plenary speakers include Wim de Vaele, CEO iMinds, Sara Mazur, Vice President & Head of Research of the Ericsson Group and David del Val Latorre, President & CEO Telefonica Research and Development.

In addition to a number of other prominent speakers the two-day program also offers a wide variety of workshops focusing on Research & Innovation, Market Validation or Go-to-Market aspects. The session on Research & Innovation will focus on basic & applied research leading to innovative proof-of-concepts within the areas of IoT, Network apps, Cloud as an enabler for Digital Single Market.

The Market validation session will cover large scale experiments and testing, relating to Open Source, Connected Smart Cities and FIWARE as a platform for starting and growing a business. Relating to the topic of Connected Smart Cities, Roberto Saracco, Node Director, EIT ICT Labs Italy is one of the session speakers.

Finally, the Go-to-Market session will showcase new products and services with a proven added value and as a part of sharing how you can turn ideas into business there will be a SEP Investors forum. This will be focused on bridging the gaps between research projects / early stage ideas and business application.

EIT ICT Labs will be present with a stand showcasing our contributions to the transitions of research & innovation to new products and services, especially in the area of Future Networking Solutions.
