Symposium on the Trusted Cloud and Future Enterprises, hosted by EIT ICT Labs on August 13th 2014 in Oulu, Finland
Cloud has become a game-changer in terms of how businesses manage the flow of information, how we distribute software and how people connect to one another. The future of Cloud in Europe is promising but it requires secure Cloud infrastructures and services that users trust. More than ever Cloud also influences on how the companies define their next-generation competitive strategy, new leadership approach and operation processes that would form a basis for changing economic conditions.
In August 2014 Oulu, Finland the Trusted Cloud and Future Enterprises Symposium will be the place to be for the Cloud community. The Symposium is the opportunity to take a closer look at the trusted Cloud and future way of working, providing an excellent opportunity for industry representatives, decision-makers, academics, researchers, students as well as professionals to meet some of the key players responsible for shaping the trusted Cloud in Europe and discover key aspects of future enterprises.
The Symposium will address a variety of topics addressing the trusted cloud and future enterprises with perspectives from those shaping the Cloud ecosystems in Europe. Expert speakers will converge including representatives from EIT ICT Labs and European Investment Fund, industry leaders such as; Airbus Defence and Space, Avira, British Telecom, F-Secure, Telecom Italy, and OP-Pohjola as well as researchers and academics from Fraunhofer IESE and University of Oulu.
Come and participate with the Cloud community to shape the future of Cloud in Europe!

 Marko Turpeinen, Director EIT ICT Labs Helsinki:
Marko Turpeinen leads the Finnish Node of EIT ICT Labs. Turpeinen is also the Principal Scientist and the leader of the Digital Content Communities research group at Helsinki Institute for Information Technology (HIIT), which is a joint research institute of Aalto University and University of Helsinki. His research addresses issues in customized media content, active computer-mediated communities, ageing society, and the role of media in promoting sustainable development. Marko was a Professor of Media Tehnology at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) during 2006-2013. He has extensive industrial experience from the media industry, as between 1996 and 2005 he worked in various executive positions at Alma Media Corporation, a Finnish media company.

 Theo Dimitrakos, British Telecom:
Theo Dimitrakos is Chief Researcher at the Research and Innovation division of British Telecommunications plc (BT) in the UK and a Professor at the School of Computing of the University of Kent. He has 20 years of research experience in Information Security, Trust Management, Distributed Systems and Foundations of Computer Science. At BT, he leads the Cloud Security Innovation activities. He is a member of expert groups by ENISA on Cloud Security and Resilience, a contributor to several ENISA advisory reports, and actively involved in activities of Cloud Security Alliance in Europe. He also chairs the IFIP working group on Trust Management and the Editor in Chief of Springer’s journal on Trust Management. He has published six technical books, edited three guest editions of international security journals and authored around sixty scientific publications and tens of patents.

 Janne Järvinen, F-Secure:
Janne Järvinen is Director, External R&D Collaboration at F-Secure Corporation. He led the Cloud Software program (www.cloudsoftwareprogram.org), and now leads the N4S program (www.n4s.fi) under DIGILE Oy. Janne Järvinen has over 25 years of experience in software engineering and software process improvement in various positions within software industry from programmer to VP Engineering in small and large software companies. Järvinen has also been active in academia in various research programmes such as European ESPRIT(BOOTSTRAP, PROFES) and ITEA (MOOSE, FLEXI). He is an IEEE member and holds a PhD in Information processing science from University of Oulu (2000).

 Fabrizio Antonelli, Telecom Italia:
Fabrizio leads the Semantics and Knowledge Innovation Lab (SKIL) of Telecom Italia, located in Trento at the EIT ICT Labs Co-located center, whose goal is to investigate and design novel data-driven service. The main projects carried on are on heterogeneous Big Data correlation pattern extraction (mostly from telecommunication data) and human dynamics analysis from personal data. The latter includes the development of technologies for personal data preservation, that the World Economic Forum cited as reference case in 2013 (see Mobile Territorial Lab www.mobileterritoriallab.eu). Fabrizio has recently been awarded among the 10 Italian Young Innovators Under 35 of the MIT Technology Review program.

 Praveen Paranjothi, European Investment Fund (EIF):
Praveen Paranjothi is a disruptive innovation enthusiast with a passion for projects that create a better future. An engineer by background, he invests and manages investments in European Venture Capital funds across different sectors at the European Investment Fund, a major cornerstone investor in Europe that has committed EUR 4.4bn in more than 240 European VC funds. He also contributes as a mentor or on the judging panels of tech entrepreneurship competitions. Praveen has previously worked at Siemens Venture Capital and has also worked in different operational roles focused on mobile telecom networks at Nokia Siemens Networks, Germany. He holds a MBA from HEC Paris, France and he completed his MBA exchange from UC Berkeley, USA. He also holds an MSc in Electrical Engineering from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, Germany, and a Bachelor in Engineering from University of Madras, India.

 Jörg Dörr , Fraunhofer IESE:
Dr. Joerg Doerr is head of the Information Systems division at the Fraunhofer Institute Experimental Software Engineering (IESE) in Kaiserslautern, Germany. Before, he was head of the Requirements and Usability Engineering department. His work areas include all software engineering areas for information systems, with a special focus on requirements engineering, especially non-functional requirements. He leads diverse Training, industrial Technology-transfer and Research projects, and is lecturer at the University of Kaiserslautern, author of more than 60 peer reviewed publications and member in many international and national program committees. He is member in the German computer science society.

 Katri Honkonen, Airbus Defence and Space:
Katri Honkonen is Head of R&D, Terminals Product Line at Airbus Defence and Space. She has over 15 years of experience in R&D and software engineering in different positions such as software development, project management and line management. During her career she has worked in small technology start up company, mid size software companies and large global technology company. She has strong experience of global project management. She is enthusiastically improving software development processes within the company. Her target is to achieve excellent results by enabling innovative and efficient working environment. Her specific interest areas are people leadership and team collaboration. She has successfully lead agile adaptation program at Airbus Defence and Space. Katri Honkonen holds MSc degree in computer science and mathematics, and she is currently finalizing her eMBA studies in the University of Jyväskylä. She is a member of Finnish computer science society (Sytyke Ry) and member of Finnish lady leaders' society (Gaia Network Association Ry).

 Vasco Duarte, Avira:
Product Manager, Scrum Master, Project Manager, Director, Agile Coach are only some of the roles that Vasco Duarte has taken in software development organizations. Having worked in the software industry since 1997, and Agile practitioner since 2004, he has worked in small, medium and large software organizations as an Agile Coach or leader in agile adoption at those organizations. He was one of the leaders and catalysts of Agile methods and Agile culture adoption at Avira, Nokia and F-Secure.

Tuomas Jomppanen, Op-Pohjola:
Tuomas Jomppanen is an award-winning designer and lean startup practitioner. Since the age of Commodore 64, his passion to perfecting products through consumer feedback has been way to get things done. For the past few years, Tuomas has been co-leading development of Mobile Wallet called Pivo. Pivo's several awards (e.g. Best Digital Design or Best Mobile Service) proves that agile, scrum and lean methodologies work, even when applied within a corporation.  Markku Oivo, University of Oulu:
Prof. Markku Oivo (PhD, eMBA) has 32 years of research, R&D and management experience in academy and industry in Finland, US, France and Germany. He is full professor at University of Oulu since 2002. He is Head of the Department of Information Processing. During 2000-2002 he was Vice President and director of R&D at Solid Information Technologies. He held several positions at VTT (Technical Research Center of Finland) in 1986-2000 including Professor and Head of Embedded SW R&D. He has held visiting positions at the University of Maryland (1990-91), Schlumberger Ltd. (Paris 1994-95), Fraunhofer IESE (1999-2000), and currently at the University of Bolzano. He has worked at Kone Co. (1982-86) and at the University of Oulu (1981-82). He has initiated and managed more than 100 national and international R&D projects and programs with tens of millions of Euros at national and international scales.
