With the official opening of Satellite Co-Location Centre in Munich on July 5, EIT ICT Labs opened up a second innovation hotspot in Germany. 

The ceremony consisted of a number speeches by local pioneers and scientists such as Professor Manfred Broy (TU München, Institut für Informatik) and Mr. Klaus Helmrich (Boardmember of Siemens) and Professor Kathrin Möslein ( Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg), as well as international innovators connected to the Munich innovation network. A special place was reserved for the presentation of promising local startups. 

“Our Co-Location Centers and Satellites play a crucial role in our open and collaborative drive towards European ICT innovation”, said Willem Jonker (CEO of EIT ICT  Labs) in his speech. “In these locations we integrate our education and innovation activities to drive European economic growth and quality of life. With the opening of the Munich Satellite, we celebrate the strong connection of EIT ICT Labs to yet another innovation hotspot in Europe.”

The celebration took place at fortiss Institut, where the ceremony was followed by a characteristical Bavarian night.
