The advent of ubiquitous devices equipped with positioning capacities such as smartphones has lead to the growing development of location-based services (LBS) and the massive collection of the mobility data of individuals. However, learning the location of an individual is one of the greatest threat against his privacy as it can be used to deduce the points of interests characterizing his mobility, to predict his past, current and future locations or even to discover his social network. Thus, it is important to develop privacy-preserving version of location-based services that still provides the same functionalities while giving privacy guarantees for the users of such systems. Security is also an crucial issue in such context, especially if the location data is acquired through a smartphone that might be vulnerable to security attacks and malware. Moreover, being able to verify the authenticity of the position claimed by a particular entity is also a fundamental requirement for applications personalizing the service they provided to the location of the user.

The workshop is open to anyone interested in the privacy and security issues raised by the development of location-based services. Participation is free, but due to space limitations, please email tim.schwartz@dfki.de and sgambs@irisa.fr regarding your attendance as early as possible.
