Container concepts as big data, data sciences, internet of things are being bandied and misinterpreted. Yet, these terms are relevant part of the digitalisation of industries and forces companies to learn how these impact businesses. You can learn how to use new emerging technologies at one of the EIT Digital Summer Schools which will take place in the summer of 2021.
In the EIT Digital Summer School professionals get to know how emerging technologies impact their business and how to turn technology into new business. That is why EIT Digital brings together professionals and EIT Digital Master School students to learn all about emerging technologies and how to turn them into business opportunities. "Our Summer Schools offer our attendees the chance to master the digital mindset that companies need to acquire in order to be competitive”, says Roberto Prieto, Chief Education Officer at EIT Digital.
During the two-week EIT Digital Summer Schools state-of-the-art excellence in key digital technologies is combined with expertise in innovation and entrepreneurship (I&E). Attendees immerse themselves in real business case studies originating from EIT Digital's pan-European ecosystem of scaleups, industrial and academic partners and research companies.
The Summer Schools are open to researchers, industry professionals, master and PhD students and others who want to deep dive into emerging technologies and learn how to apply them in business situations. The Summer school is also part in the EIT Digital Master School. Prieto: "The power of these summer schools , and what sets them apart for any other summer business schools, is that they blend professionals with EIT Digital Master Schools students. Former learners have indicated that this is putting a cherry on top of the schools. Participants work together in mixed teams and therefore learn the language of the world of technology and business. Another dimension is that companies can scout new talents for their business."
Each Summer School is themed around one of the five areas in which EIT Digital sees major societal and industrial challenges as well as opportunities for Europe to take a leadership position in the global digital economy. These areas are: Digital Industry, Digital Cities, Digital Wellbeing, Digital Tech and Digital Finance.
EIT Digital will prepare all summer schools to take place in eleven European Cities. But if COVID-19 pandemic prevents people from travelling, the summer schools will just like last year be held online. Prieto: “Last year we had the summer school online for the first time. Even though we know students and participants had mixed feelings about that beforehand, the feedback of the participants is that the experience was better than expected. The organisers have done their utmost best to create an inspiring two weeks in a dynamic digital environment using innovative tools. Delivering an educational, entrepreneurial and inspiring summer school, is our aim for this year again, whether it is online or offline.“
The deadline for applications is 1 June 2021. The first school opens on 4 July and the last finishes on 14 August.
