SME4DD: A comprehensive digital transformation journey for European businesses
At its core, the SME4DD initiative is about equipping businesses with the tools they need…
The deep tech sector in Europe is thriving, with many promising companies developing cutting-edge technology. However, these companies often struggle to scale up and compete on a global level.
EIT Digital is launching today the tenth edition of its flagship competition for European digital deep tech companies, the EIT Digital Challenge, providing a platform for these companies to showcase their innovations and succeed internationally.
Fast-growing start-ups with existing customers - so called scaleups - developing digital solutions in one of these focus areas: Digital Tech, Digital Cities, Digital Industry, Digital Wellbeing and Digital Finance, are invited to apply.
The deadline for applications is March 28, 2023.
"The EIT Digital Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for European deep tech start-ups to gain access to the resources and support they need to reach their full potential. We will select up to twenty finalists and invite them to participate in a pitch competition that will take place in Brussels in June, alongside the Grow Digital conference," Diva Tommei, Chief Innovation and Education Officer of EIT Digital, says.
Up to ten winners will receive a full year of tailored international growth support worth €50,000, provided by the EIT Digital Accelerator.
The support includes assistance in raising their next Series A or B round from strategic international investors with the support of an experienced Access to Finance team, leveraging EIT Digital's 300+ Pan-European network of top European corporations, 1000+ investors, SMEs, universities, and research institutions.
Additionally, the winners will be coached on their market readiness and go-to-market strategy to support their international ambitions and gain international visibility through EIT Digital communication channels.
"The EIT Digital Challenge award was an important recognition for the Covision Quality team. My advice to scaleups planning to compete in the 2023 edition, would be to clearly and unequivocally state the problem you are solving and its magnitude. Then state how you are solving it and explain why your team and your product are uniquely suited to solve the problem, now, at scale," says Franz Tschimben, CEO of Covision Quality, one of the 2022 winners.
