Ecosystem supercharged. On November 25, 2023, Madrid buzzed with excitement as the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales UPM hosted the EIT Digital Master School Graduation Day.
With an agenda filled with motivational speeches, the sharing of student journeys, and a grand diploma handover, the event not only celebrated the achievements of the graduates but also reinforced the collaborative spirit and forward-thinking vision of EIT Digital.
EIT Digital CEO Federico Menna set the tone with an inspiring address, emphasizing the significance of impact and continuity beyond immediate achievements. "EIT Digital is all about making an impact - creating a meaningful change, that stays after the immediate moment when it was deployed. Graduation is not only about receiving a diploma, today a new journey begins for you, bring along the values you learned during your journey with EIT Digital. Good luck to all of you," he declared.
Speeches from notable industry leaders highlighted the pressing global challenges of green and digital transformation. Mirko Guarnera from STMicroelectronics underscored the synergy between innovation and entrepreneurship, urging graduates to seize the future. "The world's most pressing challenges are green and digital transformation. EIT Digital and STMicroelectronics share a common mission - innovation and entrepreneurship, that is a powerful synergy. The world is yours to take, you shape your future."
Laoura Ntziourou from the European Investment Fund (EIF) praised the presence of women in ICT and the importance of digital skills in the evolving job market. "Cherish this moment of your professional journey! Digital along with green digital skills are a priority. This year is the European year of skills. It is important because we have a shortage of experts in digital- more than 70% of businesses lack staff with skills and 90% of jobs will require digital skills in the future. Women are precious to the ICT sector, I'm happy to see so many women in this room," she remarked.
María Luisa Domínguez González, President of ADIF, captivated the audience with her heartfelt advice: "I did not dream as big as I should have! I want to give you three important messages: Lean on your friends, network. Take care of your families. Take care of yourself, believe in you, and dream big!"
The event was a testament to EIT Digital’s commitment to fostering talent and driving innovation. As the graduates embark on their new professional paths, they carry forward the values and skills imparted by EIT Digital, ready to shape the future of technology and sustainability.
EIT Digital Master School's 232 fresh graduates, 170 of which attended the ceremony, are ready to shape the tech world, we cannot wait to see what they will do next!
