EIT Digital Champions welcomes STMicroelectronics as sponsor, seeking automotive innovation
For the first time, STMicroelectronics (ST), a global leader in semiconductor technology,…
It’s with profound sadness that we’ve learned of the untimely death of Roberto Saracco, one of the key figures in the launch of EIT Digital, from 2011 to 2017 at the helm of the Italian Node and until September 2018, Head of the Industrial Doctoral School of the organisation.
Born in Turin in 1953, he held a diploma in Computer Science, a University degree in Mathematics and a specialisation in Particle Physics.
He was not only a figure of immense competence in the field of technology and innovation but also an exceptionally inspiring person.
As he used to say, he “fell in love with technology and its implications at a very early age” and throughout his life and career he was keen to share this passion with both experts and a more general audience.
He published over 200 papers in journals and magazines and 30 books and taught a course on Technology Forecasting and Market impact at the University of Trento. On the iEEE website, he curated a daily blog with commentary on innovation in various technology and market areas. He held management roles at various renown companies and organisations, from Telecom Italia to the World Bank and Reply Group.
His ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner set him apart as a leader and educator.
Roberto Saracco has left us too soon, but his enduring impact on the technology sector, his visionary approach to education and innovation, and his influential contributions to both academia and industry, will continue to inspire and guide us.
Our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.
