EIT Digital is pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hellenic Development Bank (HDB). This strategic partnership aims to foster innovation, support digital startups and SMEs, and contribute to Europe's digital transformation.
The collaboration between EIT Digital and HDB encompasses a wide range of initiatives designed to bolster the digital ecosystem in Greece and across Europe. At the heart of this partnership is a commitment to support innovative startups and SMEs, with both organisations working together to identify promising ventures and help them scale up throughout Europe.
A key aspect of the MoU is the mutual sharing of advisory services and networks. EIT Digital and HDB will provide access to their respective resources, organising joint events such as webinars, info days, and pitching sessions to increase the visibility of Greek digital-oriented companies. These events will showcase the specific services, programmes, and funding opportunities offered by both EIT Digital and HDB.
The partnership also focuses on bridging the gap between research and market-ready innovations. EIT Digital and HDB will collaborate to support the commercialization of research results through business partnerships, licensing opportunities, and the creation of spin-off companies. This effort may include exploring financial support mechanisms for Greek startups and technology providers, potentially leveraging the HDB Innovation Guarantee Fund in conjunction with EIT Digital's open calls and similar initiatives.
To further support the growth of innovative companies, EIT Digital and HDB will work together to maximize market opportunities for the startups and SMEs they support. This will involve organising pitching events, facilitating connections with corporates, and sharing expertise on the startup and SME ecosystem.
The MoU also emphasizes the importance of fostering the broader startup ecosystem. Both organisations will engage in mutual consultations, joint conferences, and business symposia. They will also participate in and organise training and coaching events, including seminars, startup acceleration programmes, and conferences. This collaborative approach aims to create a favorable communication ecosystem that supports innovation and entrepreneurship.
Federico Menna, CEO of EIT Digital, stated, "This partnership with the Hellenic Development Bank marks a significant step in our mission to strengthen Europe's position in the digital world. By combining our expertise and resources, we aim to create a more robust ecosystem for digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Greece and across Europe."
