EIT ICT Labs Germany is management partner of the program Software Campus that aims to train and develop future IT executives. 40 attendees of that program now presented their research projects at the Federal Ministry for Education and Research in Berlin. The Ministry funds those projects with up to 100,000 EUR each. The Software Campus attendees manage every issue of the project independently – from project planning to coordination of the team.

After the first graduates received their certificates at the German National IT Summit 2014 from the Federal Minister for Education and Research, Dr. Johanna Wanka, another 30 IT experts will finish the program successfully in spring 2015. These future „executives for Germany“ are urgently needed in the German IT industry. According to latest surveys, two thirds of IT companies plan to create new jobs in 2015 – and are still suffering from skill shortage. This is why the industry partners of the program, who train the attendees in leadership skills also took the chance to outline career options with the future IT leaders at the summit.

The growing network of research institutes and corporates is highly treasured by the graduates. For that reason the students founded an alumni organisation to establish a sustainable network for young IT managers in Germany. By organizing events and coachings for the alumni members, a regular platform shall be formed where trends are discussed and skills improved. The first events are currently in planning and will take place within the next months.

IT talents with managerial ambitions are welcome to apply until April 16th for the coming semesters of Software Campus.
