FIWARE is an open initiative targeted to create a sustainable ecosystem where companies can capture the opportunities that will emerge with the new wave of digitalization.
FIWARE technologies together build an open source standard platform integrating a number of components, making it easier to develop smart applications. EIT Digital has been mainly supporting the creation of the innovation hubs that exploit the FIWARE technologies and now that the FIWARE Foundation has been set up, the CEO of EIT Digital, Willem Jonker believes the take up of the FIWARE technologies will accelerate. As many of the FIWARE partners are also members of EIT Digital, it allows EIT Digital to set up concrete projects and innovation activities going forward.
