Galgus, a Spanish deep tech scaleup based in Sevilla, has joined the EIT Digital Accelerator. Galgus develops and markets a unique WiFi technology to deliver high-performing WiFi networks all over the world. Their multiplatform software called Cognitive Hotspot™ Technology (CHT) optimizes spectral efficiencies for WiFi routers and access points which is relevant especially in high-user density environments with high interference levels. The company’s target markets include aviation, rail, maritime, hospitality/enterprises and residential.
For its technology, Galgus was awarded in the EIT Digital Challenge 2016 in the category Digital Infrastructure, and benefited already back then from the support of EIT Digital. Head of Marketing, Pedro Garcia states: “Back in 2016, the EIT Digital Challenge gave us a lot of international visibility, major media outlets wrote about us which strengthened conversations with potential clients. Now we decided to join the EIT Digital Accelerator as we believe that EIT Digital is a great ally to achieve our business goals and scale.”
Increasing WiFi performance by up to 400%
The Cognitive Hotspot™ Technology (CHT) creates a fully distributed Wi-Fi network, making each access point intelligent. Access points with CHT measure key network metrics, exchange them with neighbouring access points and together optimise radio resources in real-time, while reducing interference levels and power consumption. As a result, the WiFi performance increases by up to 400%. Furthermore, it reduces the number of access points needed in WiFi deployments and thus costs. CHT is a fully distributed technology which needs no central controller.
About Galgus
