EIT Digital Academy congratulates the 38 students graduating from the EIT Digital Master School programme Human Computer Interaction and Design (HCID ). HCID has been the most popular programme for the school's 2014-2016 intake.
That makes sense. In a world dominated more and more by computers, there is a need for people who understand the human capacity for and consequences of using information technology as a tool for solving work related tasks, and developing systems by putting the user at the center of the design process. EIT Digital is committed to ensuring Europe is at the forefront of the digital future, underpinned by a workforce that is both technically skilled and entrepreneurial in outlook.
Graduates from the HCID master's programme will qualify for jobs in international and local organisations in both technical and business roles. They will be well placed to consider roles as interaction designers, user experience designers, interactive systems engineers, human factors experts, usability engineers, business developers, product managers, or consultants in human computer interaction and design. But they will also be capable of starting their own startups.
One of the students who graduated last year, Irene Kolomvrezou, now works at EIT Digital's Innovation Activity Fit2Perform in Eindhoven (Netherlands) as a System Design Engineer. Fit2Perform is a telmatic technology that tackles health risks for professional truck drivers by monitoring drivers' vital signs and then informing both drivers and haulage companies on safe driving limits. Kolomvrezou will also be one of the speakers at the upcoming Graduation Day on November 26 in Stockholm.
The graduating students will receive two master school degrees and a certificate of the European Institute of Technology. This is because as part of the programme the students will have spent their first year at one European university and then will have gone on to study their specialisation at another EIT Digital partner university. The programme also includes an additional summer school course at a third university.
The partner universities who work together in the HCID programme are the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Sweden, Technische Universität Berlin in Germany (TUB), Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in the Netherlands (TU/e), Technische Universiteit Twente in the Netherlands (Utwente), AALTO University in Finland (Aalto), University of Trento in Italy (UNITN), Université Paris-Sud in France (UPS) and at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid in Spain.
