The EIT Digital Alumni Association has launched its annual Startup Contest. In Startup Contest 2020 the associations call all EIT Digital alumni who founded a startup to participate in the contest. The goal of the contest is to provide participating startups unique opportunities and support for emerging startups in the Alumni community.
The Startup Contest, previously known as the Ambassador Programme, has brought forth successful winners in the past. These winners are for example Bálint Zsiga, founder of Atmo who graduated in 2015 from the EIT Digital Master School where he studied Human Computer Interaction and Design at Aalto University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology. Another EIT Digital Master School graduate Dora Palfi founder of imagiLabs, won the contest in 2019. And EIT Digital Doctoral School alumnus Wilfried Dron won the contest in 2019 as Founder and CEO of the company WISEBATT.
Three reasons to apply
The alumni association sums up three reasons why all EIT Digital alumni who are starting or are about to start their startup should apply.
- Get visibility for your startup. “The Alumni Association will promote all startup applicants on its communication channels. Your startup will be known by the EIT Digital ecosystem partners and potential investors. Most importantly, you may find your next teammates or supporters from our alumni community, as we are a group of people with an entrepreneurship mindset and IT knowledge from all over the world!
- Gather feedback on your startup. “You will receive valuable input on your business ideas and startup operation plans from our expert jury members and feedback from your alumni peers.”
- Yes, you will get a prize!! “In the past years, we sent the winners to big tech conferences such as Slush and TechCrunch Disrupt to meet future customers and investors. Though we cannot foresee how the big conferences will be held in 2020 due to the COVID19 precaution, we will find a suitable alternative for the winning prize this year!”

The deadline to apply to the contest is 26 June. To apply, you should fill in the application form. You’ll be asked what your startup is about and how the business model works. After applying, you should be prepared for an online pitch to our Alumni community on 30 June or 7 July. The winner will be announced at 28 July.
Jury
Among the jury members are business developers, access to market leads and education organisers of EIT Digital. The jury will evaluate the participants on three dimensions: What, How and Wow. This means the jury will look at for example the overall context, the business plan and the communication.
