- Vital@Home continues with EIT Digital funding in 2018 expanding into Germany consists of wearable sensors integrated with cloud-based applications to provide unobtrusive, continuous mobility monitoring, enabling individualised disease management.
- The Vital@Home system further includes an App to improve self-management of Parkinson in daily life, and an App that provides professionals with objective information to optimise treatments.
*Neurological disorders are now the leading cause of disability in the world.1 Among these neurological disorders,the fastest growing is PD, whose growth is surpassing that of Alzheimer disease.
The <link newsroom news article eit-digital-leads-innovation-set-to-help-parkinsons-patients>Vital@Home project started its activity on Parkinson in 2017 with EIT Digital’s support in its Digital Wellbeing Action Line. They successfully developed and successfully tested their system including activity monitoring, self-reports on falls and medication intake.
“The successful results of the first phase of the project made it possible to pursue the phase 2 of the project”, explains Dr Heribert Baldus, Activity Leader of Vital@Home and part of Philips Research, the business champion. “In 2018, we are extending the scope by including medication management, a coaching tool, quality of life indications, and customization features. Trials will include Germany and the Netherlands.”

The <link innovation-entrepreneurship digital-wellbeing>Digital Wellbeing Action Line leverages digital technologies to help people stay healthy (prevention and early detection) or cope with an existing chronic condition. It includes both physical and mental wellbeing. The solutions generally rely on enabling consumers to be well-informed about their wellbeing, change their behaviour and use digital unobtrusive instrumentation to monitor and improve their quality of life, saving on high healthcare costs later in life.
