The Role

The EU Project Portfolio Manager at EIT Digital is responsible for coordinating identification of opportunities and acquisition, management, execution , internal monitoring and formal reporting EU-funded projects that drive digital innovation, education, and entrepreneurship across Europe. The EU Project Portfolio Manager directly manages a team of Project Leads and provides support to project owners within EIT Digital’s business units to optimize the project portfolio activities and effort.

She/he facilitates knowledge exchange within the organization with regards to projects, managing the portfolio of projects to meet EIT Digital strategic objectives and enables cross-cutting collaboration of EIT Digital’s Business Units.

She/he supervises project leads and owners in ensuring compliance with European Commission regulations, oversees budgeting, spending and reporting.

She/he facilitates collaboration between universities, research institutions, and industry partners, leveraging synergies among EU-funded projects in the portfolio and other strategic initiatives.

With strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, she/he plays a key role in advancing EIT Digital’s mission of fostering digital transformation.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the portfolio of EU projects, ensuring alignment with EIT Digital’s strategic goals during the planning and execution.
  • Coordinate the work of EU-project leads and project owners across EIT Digital’s business units
  • Coordinate new project acquisition process to ensure high quality and strategic alignment. For selected opportunities, lead and ensure their acquisition and set up.
  • Collaborate with EIT Digital regional teams, relevant partner and stakeholder organizations (universities, research institutions, corporate partners, EIT , EU agencies and DGs) to facilitate project success and knowledge exchange, improving EIT Digital’s overall positioning.
  • Monitor the portfolio of project budgets, expenses, and financial reporting to ensure efficient resource allocation and compliance with grant conditions.
  • Supervise the preparation and submission of progress reports, impact assessments, and project deliverables to funding agencies and internal stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects adhere to European Commission regulations, funding requirements, and reporting guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience. Experience in project management is a requirement.
  • Experience with Horizon Europe grant management and EU funding rules and guidelines
  • Experience working in fast paced environment and/or in an international organisation is an advantage.
  • The candidate is to be proactive, service-oriented, capable of multi-tasking, and motivated to drive continuous improvement based on sound analysis.
  • Good communication and outstanding organisational skills, including logistics. Proficient in MS Office tools and applications as well as common virtual presence tools and technologies.

Languages

Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of other European language is highly desirable. 

Place of employment

Brussels or other EIT Digital office in EU27.
