About the Role
The Head of Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, and Marketing is responsible for defining and executing EIT Digital’s strategic communication, stakeholder engagement, and marketing initiatives at a pan-European level. This role will drive thought leadership, brand positioning, and high-level stakeholder relations to strengthen EIT Digital’s presence in the European digital innovation ecosystem and beyond.
As part of the leadership team, this role will oversee multi-channel marketing strategies, corporate communications, EU institutional relations, and public affairs, ensuring that EIT Digital is recognized as the Gateway to European Digital Innovation. The Head of Stakeholder Communication, Engagement, and Marketing will lead a multi-functional team and work closely with C-level executives, industry leaders, policymakers, and the media to enhance the organisation’s influence, visibility, and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and Execute Communication Plans: Define and execute both short term and long-term communication roadmaps that align with EIT Digital’s business objectives and strengthen its brand positioning at a European and global level.
- Lead Stakeholder Engagement and Communication: Strengthen relationships with key players across EU institutions, corporates, academia, and startups, driving strategic dialogues, partnerships, and policy influence through the Makers and Shapers initiative. Oversee public relations and external communication to maintain a strong voice in EU affairs and industry forums, directly supporting the CEO in high-level engagements.
- Drive Marketing and Communication delivery teams: Ensure the timely and budget-conscious execution of marketing and communication initiatives supporting the Education, Unipreneurship, and Innovation teams, aligning with their goals, objectives and KPIs as defined in the relevant contracts and grant agreements. Ensure that communication and dissemination activities related to EU calls adhere to the specific requirements of each call while remaining fully aligned with EIT Digital’s overarching strategy.
- Thought Leadership and Media Strategy: Position EIT Digital and its CxO and leadership team as thought leaders through strategic media relations, high-profile events, and influential content.
- Oversee Digital and Social Media Marketing, Communication and Outreach activities: Drive engagement through multi-channel campaigns, including digital marketing, social media, content creation, and paid media strategies.
- Ensure both internal and external Communication Excellence Across the Organisation: Act as the central point of coordination for all external messaging, ensuring consistency across all communication and marketing activities. Support internal communication to facilitate knowledge transfer and exchanges between teams and between the leadership team and the rest of the staff.
- Oversee and Scale Major Events & Flagship Initiatives: Lead the design, execution, and marketing of EIT Digital’s high-profile events and partner engagements, enhancing reach and impact. Ensure aligned and coordinated event participation and organization across the entire EIT Digital organization (ecosystem, innovation, education, unipreneurship)
- Drive Operational Excellence and Data-Driven Decision-Making: Implement best-in-class marketing analytics, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms to evaluate the impact of communication and marketing initiatives.
- Manage and Develop the Marketing and Communications Team: Lead and mentor a high-performing team across EIT Digital’s European locations, fostering collaboration and excellence.
- Own and Manage P&L Responsibilities: Maintain full oversight of the budget, costs, and financial planning for communication and marketing activities. Ensure financial sustainability by effectively managing resources, optimizing spending, and aligning the team’s expenditures with strategic priorities.

- Enhanced Brand Recognition: Measurable increase in EIT Digital’s brand awareness, digital presence, and stakeholder perception.
- Stronger Stakeholder Engagement: Increased partnerships, collaborations, and active involvement of policymakers, corporates, and media in EIT Digital’s initiatives.
- Higher Media and Thought Leadership Impact: Growth in media coverage, participation in key industry discussions, and high-profile speaking engagements for CxOs.
- Improved Digital Marketing Performance: Increased reach, engagement, and conversion rates across EIT Digital’s digital and social media channels.
- Successful and coordinated Event Execution: Greater participation, media impact, and strategic partnerships resulting from EIT Digital’s events and summits.
- Strong Internal Communication and Alignment with other teams: Enhanced coordination and clarity in messaging across all departments and locations.
Desired Qualifications & Experience
- Proven Leadership in Communication, Stakeholder Engagement, and Marketing.
- High-Level Stakeholder Management experience working with EU institutions, policymakers, and corporate partners.
- Expertise in Digital Marketing and Branding, including multi-channel campaigns, social media, and content marketing.
- Thought Leadership and Public Affairs Experience, with the ability to position an organisation as an industry leader through media, PR, and high-impact content.
- Strong Business and Financial Acumen, with the ability to develop sustainable marketing initiatives with a focus on revenue generation and long-term impact.
- International Experience and Cross-Cultural Skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams, stakeholders, and media partners across Europe.
- Education: Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
Location
Preferably at EIT Digital HQ in Brussels.
Other EIT Digital locations may be considered, provided there is easy access to key European markets.
Reporting Line
Reports to EIT Digital Chief Innovation and Education Officer.
